Tenuta Larnianone is located in the protected hills 5km above Siena. The Morfini family has been producing wine and olive oil since 1939. The meticulously cared-for property, which contains 16 hectares of vineyards and 12 hectares of olive groves, enjoys a breathtaking view of the protected Chianti hills and the famed medieval city. During the 1930s, the land was passed to the Masignani family, a well-known pasta producer from Siena, who decided to start a private production of wines. Later, Maria Masignani married Ezio Morfini, a talented and creative engineer from Milan who, impressed by the location's beauty and peace, initiated the conservative restoration of the old farmhouses in the ‘60s. Later, following their great passion for wine, they decided to invest time and resources, using innovative techniques to create a wine of exceptional quality that could celebrate the distinction of their land and be handed down to future generations. And this is where Lorenzo’s story begins.
Lorenzo is outstanding. He seems to have lived numerous lives before this one. Life has afforded him many adventures, which he seems to have taken on eagerly and wholeheartedly. He lives life to the fullest; you can see in his eyes and body movements that he is excited for the next experience. He is not careless in this regard; quite the contrary. The exact vibrant nature he bestows is evident in his wines.
Tenuta Larnianone lies on fertile land surrounded by woods encompassed by two rivers, Bozzone and Arbia. Their prosperous soils date back to the Pliocene era, 5.3 million years. Marfini farms typical provincial grape varieties—Sangiovese, Colorino, and Canaiolo—and classic international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Walking the vineyards, glimpses of fossil remnants and marine shells layer the soil. The production process is all hands-on with a hard lean on organic viticulture. Everything is done manually, from pruning, tying, leaf-pulling, and cluster-thining to harvesting the grapes according to the particular plot and variety’s needs. The Pliocene soils littered with chunks of shells conjoined with the location and the attention to farming characterize this property- fusing to give exquisite and fine wines that set themselves apart from the majority of wine from the area.
Not opposing their sensual features, these wines have Sangiovese's characteristic muscle and concentration that respectfully place them smack in the hills of Siena. The bright acidity, undoubtedly a development of the cool nights and fresh air from the rivers, only highlights the mouthwatering freshness that distinguishes Morfini’s wines. The terroir of their area is not shy to express itself in the form of a decisive backbone of savory, stony minerality.

Chianti Santa Virginia is produced from the most suitable plots of Morfini’s estate. It is composed of the provincial grapes Sangiovese, Colorino, and Canaiolo to maintain the typical formula of Chianti.

After an accurate selection during the harvest, entirely made by hand, the wine is vinified in traditional concrete vats for 2 weeks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in French and Hungarian barrels for 8 to 10 months.
Bright, deep ruby red color. Thanks to the harmony of the tannins and the delicate complexity of smooth and fruity aromas, Santa Virginia is characterized by an excellent balance in the mouth. Therefore, it is versatile for meals from pasta to more complex meat main dishes or cheeses.

Bragia, composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese, comes from a 4.5-hectare estate plot planted in 1999 at 275 m asl; the soil consists of loose clay from the Pliocene era and sands.
Each harvest, made after an accurate summer pruning, takes more than a month due to the hand-picking of different varieties at various intervals. Each variety is vinified separately in concrete vats where malolactic fermentation takes place; successively, the wine is blended with the proportion of different varieties, which is defined to the quality that the varieties themselves reach, and is then aged for 12-14 months in French barrels of different age and volume.
Bragia is enthusiastic and graceful on the nose, evolving, upon oxygenation, to a powerful and seductive wine. Weighty scents of cherry, violet, blackberry, black pepper, pomegranate, cloves, licorice, undergrowth, leather, chocolate, and sweet tobacco mingle with the utmost complexity. Bragia starts fresh and soft, with atypical Tuscan tannins that are elegant and perfectly integrated. With complex aromatics, both in the mouth and nose, this wine stands out for a long, succulent finish with red and black fruits, licorice, chocolate, and spicy notes playing up the finale. Excellent in combination with meat-based dishes.

The yield from this 50-year-old parcel is naturally low, and the grapes acquire complexity and concentration that only wines with such an age could reach. The layout of the vineyard rows is vital. In the Larniano plot, the rows are planted perpendicular to the slope direction to allow the summer rains to penetrate slowly into the soil rather than run off violently, a smart move by Lorenzo’s grandfather Ezio, who planted this plot in 1972. This remains as Tenuta Lamianone’s oldest single vineyard.
Chianti Riserva Larniano is composed only of the finest Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino grapes carefully selected from the Larniano plot. After the malolactic fermentation in concrete vats, the wine is aged 18 months in premium Hungarian barrels. The production of this Riserva is very limited, around 1800 bottles. Only the finest grapes from the most qualitative and historical Sangiovese-based estate parcel are selected.

Pliocene represents the emblem of Tenuta Larnianone viticulture.
It expresses the estate's specific terroir, rich in marine shell fossils from the Pliocene era, which dates back to 5.3 million years.

The testimonies of this particular geological era consist of prehistoric seashells and fossilized exoskeletons, which increase the concentration of sodium carbonate therefore, the quantity of the calcareous level of the soil, helping to retain moisture during the dry season while adding minerality and verticality to the wines. The Mediterranean Sea submerged these soils and collected the secrets of millions of years ago, delivering power and finesse simultaneously. Annual production is around 2000 bottles and 100 magnums, and the use of the blend of grapes changes according to the qualitative level they reach in the vintage.

The estate has 1916 trees, some well over 100 years old. The olive groves where we cultivate Frantoio, Moraiolo, and Leccino grow side by side, shaping the landscape just outside Siena. Harvesting is performed exclusively by hand, with pickers selecting only the best-quality fruit from each tree, ensuring the olives remain fresh and fragrant. Duccio is received solely by mechanical cold pressing the olives.
Duccio has a deep green color and a delicate aroma of enchanting, fragrant herbs. Its taste is straight and harmonious, with hints of almonds and artichokes. Its vaguely spiced and bitter aromas are typical of olives harvested at the right ripening time.
“Duccio” derives its name from the founder of the famous painting school of Siena, which was established before the Renaissance. It comes in an elegant bottle made with a unique silk screen printing technique that provides the bottle with a distinctive feature.
